"Well... The truth is, the mayor sent out an announcement a few days ago saying that if any outsiders come poking around asking questions, we should ignore them," Mona shrugged, fiddling with the medical instruments in the case, presumably for her diabetic condition. "He didn't say why."
Lisa blinked, not believing her ears. "The mayor? Who's the mayor?"
"G.G. Podge of the Podge family, one of the oldest and richest families in this town," she explained with a sigh. "He's popular and he's brought a lot of money to the place, but... Truth be told, there's something about him I don't like."
"Wait... Why are you answering my questions?" Lisa questioned, frowning slightly and wondering if she wasn't being led on as part of some odd joke.
"Like I said, I don't particularly like Podge. Besides, he can hardly stop people from talking, that's against the Freedom of the Press." The small girl gave a bit of a rueful grin that made her look like a prank-playing pixie. "You know... If you want, I might be able to get you an audience with him."
"You're joking!" This would be a great oppertunity! She could go straight to the horse's mouth and, if she was careful, get some hints as to what was going on in this town. "How?"
"There's this girl at school, Sissy, she works part-time as a secretary for the mayor and I helped her pass math so she owes me one. I'll just say I'm talking to him about my photographs for the advertising campaign and you're my new manager."
