This choice: ...He was able to pull himself upright • Go Back...Chapter #7First Experiences by: Unknown ...He was able to pull himself upright, though not without considerable difficulty. Of course, things didn't get much easier once he was upright, his belly was so large that it got him in the way of his hind-legs, forcing him to adopt a something of a waddle simply to avoid poking his knees painfully into his engorged stomach. Still, there was nothing he could about it, Rafiki was the only one who could help him now, and the sooner he set off the sooner he'd arrive.
Simba realised soon enough that he'd be lucky to reach Rafiki's baobab home by nightfall, so slow was his progress, but he was determined to keep on, at least until he caught the scent of water on the breeze, which brought back to him how thirsty he was, and so he debated whether to delay his journey for a time, before his thirst, which had appeared almost as quickly and was almost as strong as his hunger had been all but drove him towards the scent.
The waterhole was small, and seemed to be little-used, but that suited Simba fine, it would be embarrassing to appear to his subject like this in any case. At first he tried to drink standing up, but this proved, with the weight in his gut, and the slope of the bank to be almost impossible, and so he lay down as he had at the carcass, craned his neck forward until he could reach the water and began to drink. He'd not intended to drink much, but as with his meal, an unnatural gluttony overtook him and so he drank until his stomach fairly sloshed, drinking as much as he'd eaten.
When his thirst faded and he was able to take stock of his situation, Simba was dismayed to say the least, the contents of his stomach weighed almost a half of what he did, and he was now so engorged that trying to continue his journey would be impossible, and so he gave up and lay on his side, wondering what was happening, and if there was any way of solving it. As he lay there under the warm sun, with his impossibly bloated stomach starting to work over its incredible meal, he soon began to feel drowsy, and it only increased minute by minute until staying awake was virtually impossible.
