"I thought Father told you not to come out here anymore?"
You sigh, turning away from the view of the ocean below you. Kaylil, your brother, stands before you, arms crossed.
"I can't help it," you reply, "When I stay in the forest for too long I start to feel...trapped."
"Rowan," Kaylil says, putting his arm around you, "You're the strangest Elf I've ever met. The forest is our home, and yet you spend every waking moment out on a cliff staring at the sea."
"I like the sea," you say defiantly, "It doesn't judge me for being different. You know, I've been thinking."
"Well that can only lead to trouble," your brother laughs.
"Shut it," you reply, "I've been thinking about...you know...leaving."
Kaylil blinks, astonished.
"You can't leave!" he snaps, his cheerfulness replaced by sudden anger, "Father would never allow it!"
"I know," you say quietly, "That's why I'm not telling him, and you can't either."
"There's no talking you out of this?"
"No," you say, "There isn't."
"So...where exactly do you plan to go?"
