The glow faded, all the scientists left their building to look up and everything still towered over them. In defeat, they returned to their device to continue working, and missed their greatest success. It was not for the city, but the giants around it.
Everyone surrounding the city looked down and wondered what it would be like that small, all but three anyway. In a snap, that thought, combined with the radiation they just got, caused them to shrink! In an instant, two humans and two wolves were staring up at their friends' toes and beyond them, their upper bodies. Of all the giants, the barefoot five year old seemed the most menacing, coated in mud this low, he seemed more like a machine.
The second the tiny things saw that, their thoughts reversed, they wanted to be big! As before, the effect reversed itself, but they had to concentrate harder, growing was uphill plus doing it often burned a lot of energy. Their friends had only started to notice the absence when they grew back to normal size. For the tiny ones, it was amazing to see everything getting smaller, their horizon moving off and away, all that.
At the woods, around the edge of the shrink zone, the other humans and various species of cubs watched in awe as they saw this. It was sort of like the super-heroes from their comic books and cartoons. Numerous ideas of good, evil and neutral came through their minds.
Inside the village, the spectacle was watched, but the low perspective made them think the people either walked away or had shrunken. It was a very contested thing. One was pessimism the other optimism. Unfortunately, their tiny ears heard only booms from above, so easdropping would do little to end the fight.
