Chapter #8
Sports talk
by: Unknown
Jo had cooked up some fettuccini alfredo for dinner. Both of her kids liked it when she made it. Becky scooped up her usual portion, which covered the entire plate. Jo took notice of this.
“You remembered what we talked about, Becky?”
“Yeah. I still don’t see what sport will be fun.”
“Sports can be fun, squirt,” said Josh. “I mean, baseball might be to complex for you but there’s always a sport to fit an individual.”
“He’s right, hon. I checked with your school. They’re actually forming after school sports clubs for the kindergarteners and first graders.”
Becky thought for a moment. “Weeeeelll, I suppose a sport wouldn’t be too bad if they still let me wear my glasses.”
“You should still be able to wear them in the ones I’ve found,” Jo said. “I’ll show them too you after we eat.”
They ate in silence for a while. Becky finished her plate, and went to scoop some more alfredo. Her mother noticed.
“Are you sure you’re okay with trying a sport?”
“Yeah, mom. I guess it won’t be too bad.”
“Alright, then you can have some more. All I’m asking is that you at least try a sport, Becky. Nothing wrong with trying.” Jo went over to grab a notepad that was by the phone. “Here’s a sport I thought would work for you…”
