"Your majesty." Someone addresses you bizarrely. "The Great Goddess of the Stars requests your presence." You look up to see someone who looks like a cross between an archbishop and a druid standing over you. You get a general idea of what has happened and wish to clarify a few things.
"I shall see her as soon as I'm dressed." You tell him as you get up. "I wish for it to be made clear as to the identity of the goddess." The priest, or whatever he was, seems to be a bit confused by this but answers.
"Only the one who brought all nations of the world together in peace; she who has brought the end to famine and pestilence. The one who has ensured that all life can live in harmony; she is more commonly known as Kitsune." He pronounced the 'e' as in 'Kit-su-neigh'.
Once dressed you follow him through the corridors of what appears to be your palace. Here and there are the most bizarre looking tapestries; they show astonishing feats occuring while the sky is dominated by an anthropomorphic fox. Eventually you enter a particular chamber.
It is a lavishly decorated room with a clear use of symbolism; you figure it must be a sort of royal chapel. You walk forward through a golden archway but what lies beyond is staggering. A pathway leads forward to a varanda, beyond which is a chasm which seems to drop forever and what seems to be a gap for a bridge, except that it looks as though the bridge has been demolished.
"Remember, sire," The priest calls from behind you, "'Only a leap from the path of purity will he pass'." You look ahead and first think that it's impossible to leap across the chasm without falling in but it seems that this is the only way to the goddess.
