Chapter #6

Forming the Bond

    by: Unknown
What happened next I couldn’t explain, I was now looking down at my tiny form that I was holding in my claw, “my claw?” and I realized that I was looking through the eyes of the dragon who was holding me, I couldn’t move or speak it was like I was watching a movie. “Cain, Cain!” the dragon said and I heard panic in her voice, it was weird but I could actually feel the dragon’s horror, she quickly pushed the call nurse button that was beside her bed. In no time someone came to answer it.

“Please help him!” the dragon cried as to my surprise it was the rabbit that responded the call. The rabbit came over to the bed, and looked at me as the dragon held me up to her, and I watch as a smile crossed her face, and she gave a small laugh, “This isn’t funny,” the dragon said and I felt the dragon’s anger. “I’m sorry dear, but I couldn’t help it, your partner’s fine, he just hasn’t gotten used to this world yet,” the rabbit said with a soft smile, puzzlement cross the dragon’s mind and face, “this world?” she asked looking toward the rabbit.

“You see in this world we anthro all have human partners, we need each other to survive, in fact you wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for him,” the rabbit said sitting on the bed kind of like a mother talking to her child. “What do you mean?” the dragon asked, “you see you were born from him, he created you out of his imagination,” the rabbit said. I felt wonder surge through the dragon, as she looked down at my tiny form, “but why was he scared of me” she asked, “because this all new to him, just picture what it must be like for him, he woke up in a strange place, and found it popular to him giant creature that he didn’t know if they were friendly or not,” the rabbit explained in a smoothing tone. The dragon held me close to her chest which, for the first time notice that she was tank-top, and said, “Poor Cain, I feel so bad for him, I didn’t mean to scare him,” and I heard and heard sadness in her voice. “What should I do now?” the dragon asked looking up from me toward the rabbit, “just keep him close,” the rabbit said getting up, “I need to tell everyone that he’s found and with his partner,” she said and gave the dragon a smile before turning and leaving the room. Once the rabbit was gone, the dragon looked down at me again, and gave a soft smile as she closed her eyes. Now it was me that felt awful, but I could feel this dragon’s kindness like a warm blanket around my rattled consciousness, and for the first time I felt myself relax and I drifted off to sleep.

I awoke to the same feeling of warmth, and I opened my eyes to find that I was still lying against the dragoness chest, her clawed hand gently covering me like a blanket, I was gently raising and falling as the dragoness breathed. “Good morning,” I heard her soft voice, and I looked up to her looking down at me with her soft yellow eyes, “good morning,” I answered feeling comfortable with talking to her. I just then felt a little embarrassed, “I’m sorry,” I said looking up at her, “about what?” she asked, “for freaking out like that, I was just scared,” I said abashed, “it alright, I should of known better,” she said looking guilty.

We looked at each other a long moment, it was strange now that I was looking at her, I felt nothing but security and peace coming off of her, and her eyes shined with happiness as they looked at me. I rested my head back down again the dragon’s chest, and I could feel her strong and steady heartbeat, and as I listened I felt something…something that was hard to describe. It was like the dragoness’ heart and my own beat as one, as if they were one and same, connected as if the dragon and I were the same person, “your heart feels so strong,” the dragon said and I looked up again at her soft eyes. “And your feels so warm,” I answered her and she laughed which sounded like music to my ears, and just then I realized something, “I never asked your name,” I asked. The dragon looked at me, and seemed to think, “my name?” she said wistfully, “I don’t think I have one,” she said looking down at me, “how about Selena,” I said looking up at her, and the dragon smiled, “I like that, and that will be my name,” she said holding me closer to her.
