John (you) looked at the device carefully, but not carefully enough. If John had spent more time reading the small print on the screen he would have seen that in order to swap parts between two people required aiming and activating the device at the two targets within a ten second span of time. If only one target is fired at, then the device would automatically assume that whoever is using the device is the second target. If button #2 was being used, the device would not allow reality to be changed in the mind of the user of the device (unless he pointed the device at himself). This would help prevent any accidental mental readjustments/ reality changes.
Also, when button #2 was used, not only would mental adjustments be made in the mind of the subjects, but reality would be changed for everyone. It would be as if they were always the way they were changed.
All these rules were not at the forefront of John's mind, however. He was looking forward to using the device.
John's girlfriend, Tina, was due to arrive at any moment and he thought it would be funny to swap her head with his little sister Emily.
John heard a knock at the front door and went to welcome Tina.
Tina saw the strange gadget in John's hand, and said, "What in the world do you have there, John?"
John walked with Tina up to his room. She led the way, and he admired her shapely bottom as she ascended the stairs.
"It's just an old toy I found," he answered.
"Well we don't have time for toys," she absentmindedly answered. "We have studying to do."
John and Tina attended the local university and had met in an English lit class. Their studying sessions often evolved into makeout sessions, but usually Tina only allowed that to happen after a minimal amount of studying was accomplished first.
As Tina entered John's bedroom though, John had other thoughts. He raised the device, pointed it toward Tina, and pressed button # 2.
Of course nothing happened...he still had to go and find his sister.
"I'll be right back," John said. "I've got to go to the bathroom."
"Well hurry back," Tina said. "We've got work to do!"
John stepped into the hallway, but before he had gotten halfway down the hall, he felt a strange tingling sensation.
John looked down and immediately saw that his vision was blocked by two large breasts protruding from his chest. He also noticed that he was shorter than he was used to being. He took a quick left turn into the bathroom and looked into the full length mirror on the door.
Below the neck, John had Tina's body. "I can't believe this," John mumbled softly. "If I've got Tina's body, that means she's got mine."
John hefted his new Tina-boobs as these words came out. Before he became too caught up in exploration, he raced back to his room, his breasts bouncing as he went.
When he entered, he found Tina, sitting on the bed, already reading intently from the literature textbook. But the hands holding the book were his.
"That didn't take long," she said. "It normally takes you forever to take a whiz."
"I guess it didn't," John murmured.
She patted the bed next to her. "Well...come on and sit down. We have work to do."
