Escape Plan

    by: lllll1337v2 Author IconMail Icon
Link was dreaming. He was on the beach at the water’s edge, just a quick walk away from his house. He was younger, lacking an adventurer’s experience. Seated firmly in the sand, he watched as the seawater washed over his bare feet. He curled his toes and shivered. The cool liquid sped away as soon as it had arrived, leaving his soaked feet chilled by the breeze. As a child he loved the feeling. He couldn’t comprehend what it was that was so pleasing about it at the time. Perhaps it was the sense of being at the edge of something as incomprehensibly large as the Great Sea. That sense that was followed by the call for adventure. Regardless of how developed his brain was, it was easy for Link to lose himself in the cold, watery embrace…

“Big broooootheeerr!”

…But it was difficult for him to stay there. Link’s head turned to his left. Aryll was on her knees, slapping uselessly at a mound of sand. At age four, she was somehow even cuter than her current self. Those big doe eyes were even bigger and doe-ier. Her dress was green, speckled with pink flowers. Her hair lacked pigtails, a messy pixie cut instead. “Help me finish this sand castle,” she pouted, “please?”

Link smiled and stood up. He went down onto his knee, by Aryll’s side, and grabbed handfuls of sand. He began hastily sculpting a rough approximation of Hyrule Castle. Link wasn’t much of an artist unless pictography was involved. The resulting lumpy mess was nothing to write home about. “Wow, big brother,” Aryll gasped, “That looks great!”

Link shrugged. “It’s nothing special.”

“No… It’s perfect as long as you made it!”

“Huh? How do you figure that, sis?”

Aryll turned toward Link and wrapped her arms around him. She buried her face in his chest. Link felt his heart throb against her tiny head. “Cuz… You made it for me! And you’ll always be there when I need you, right big brother?”

Link’s head tilted downward, his chin resting in Aryll’s hair. “…Of course I-“A torrent of water splashed against Link’s back. He turned, only to behold the sea rising, washing everything away, and utterly swallowing him within its waves…

Aryll’s eyelids twitched as morning sunshine flittered through the bedroom window. She reached up and yawned, trying to hop off the bed as she always did. Yet she seemed anchored to a heavy mass attached to her waist. She could not move. Her bulbous stomach, still full of her big brother, was her ‘bed.’ Aryll grunted and began rocking left and right, eventually rolling herself upright. She managed to seat herself on the side of the actual bed. Her belly hung between her legs, spilling out towards the floor in a cacophony of watery gurgles. “Ah,” she cutely yawned, “Good morning, big brother. Are you awake?”

She felt a small wriggling under her skin. “Yup,” Link replied, “let’s get going.”

“Uh… Get going?”

“To Tetra and the pirates. We’re going on a little trip.”

“To where?”

“Not sure yet. Thing is, the more I think about it, the more I think you managed to eat me with some kind of magic.”

Aryll’s eyes lit up. “Whoa! Am I a witch, big brother?”

“Um… Maybe. Even with the handful of spells I can cast I honestly don’t know much about magic. I’m still trying to think of an island where we’d find someone who does.”

“Huh. Wait, I just realized,” Aryll stopped and clutched her stomach with her hands, allowing her fingers to sink into her soft skin, “how am I gonna explain my big belly, big brother?”

“Well, just tell ‘em what happened.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah. They’ll get it. You were on their ship for a couple weeks, right?”

“Good point,” Aryll nodded, hopping off the bed. Somehow she managed to keep herself upright. “Wow,” she gasped, “I feel really strong, big brother! I’m holding you up….” She kneeled over onto her knees. “Ouff," she clutched her stomach and picked it up off the floor, "You’re still really heavy, though…”

“Sudden bursts of strength, huh? We’ve gotta get to the bottom of this. Can you walk?”

“Er… Yeah…” Aryll shakily got back on her feet.

The overstuffed girl waddled out into the main thoroughfare of the house. Grandma was sitting by the kitchen table sipping tea. She turned to see her granddaughter standing with a massive peach dome hanging from her waist, dangling past her knees. “Aryll…?”

“Um, good morning grandma.”

Grandma sat with her mouth agape. “I… forgot about how much you ate last night.”

“Yup… I, uh, was gonna go with the pirates… On a trip. Um… See ya!”

“Oh.” Grandma’s face suddenly became neutral. “Have a nice trip.”

Suddenly, a swift string of knocks clattered against the front door. “I’ll get it,” Aryll said, hurrying to the door and pulling it open. She was met with Tetra’s stern visage as she tried to walk inside, only to bump against Aryll’s stomach. “Wha- Aryll?” Tetra backed up and examined the chubby little girl. She playfully prodded at the fat gut. “Jeez, you’d make Jalhalla look anorexic. How the heck did you eat even more than last night?”

Aryll’s eyes rolled around the room. “Um…”

“Hey, no need to be embarrassed. I was just looking for Link.”

“Uh… About that.”

Aryll’s body suddenly emitted a muffled groan, which sounded to Tetra almost like a voice. She chuckled at the thought. “I’m in here, Tetra,” mumbled Link from behind the flabby rolls. Tetra cocked her head. “Huh? Link, this isn’t funny,” she began scanning the room behind Aryll, “Where are you really?”

Aryll blushed. “He’s not kidding, Tetra. I… Kind of ate him.”

Tetra’s eye twitched. “Oh.” She leaned forward and laid a hand on Aryll’s stomach. “You swallowed Link. He’s in your belly right now, huh?”

The stomach shuddered as Link readjusted himself. Tetra simply stood for a while. Aryll felt a chill run up her spine. Tetra began shaking, her eyes bulging. Then she shrieked. “WHAAAAAAAT? H-how! When? You- you’re just a kid! And how are you even standing? Your back must be killing you, right?”

Aryll reached behind herself. She patted her back muscles. “No, I feel fine! I’ve been feeling really strong today, actually.”

Tetra folded her arms and bit her lip. “…Ugh, this is just too weird. I’m still having trouble processing a person just eating another person whole. Can’t you spit him up, then?”

“I was just about to get to that,” Link said, “Aryll can’t throw me up, and I have to figure out what kind of magic is letting her do this.”

“And? How do you plan on getting that info?”

“Well, we’re gonna need a ship…”

Tetra sighed. Aryll smiled and giggled. “Whee! We really are going on a trip, right big brother?”

While waiting for preparations for the trip to be completed, Aryll relaxed on the deck of the house facing the infinite blue. She breathed in the salty air, kicking back in a folding chair, her belly resting on the cushions. Almost everyone on Outset Island heard about what happened. Many villagers visited her, fascinated by her oversized stomach. Upon seeing Aryll, Rose was concerned that her children, Joel and Zill, would try eating each other. The kids ended up being transfixed on Aryll’s belly, though. Joel and Zill approached her asking to be swallowed, which Aryll politely declined, claiming she was already full.

Aryll was helped aboard the pirate ship thanks to the combined efforts of Gonzo and Senza. Strong as she was, Aryll found difficulty ascending the slanted gangplank with Link’s weight throwing her off balance. The engorged girl was to bunk in Tetra’s quarters for the duration of the trip. Meanwhile, Tetra stood on the bridge of the ship to inform her crew of where they were headed.

“Alright guys,” Tetra announced, “Link told me where we need to go. Let’s plot a course for…”
