Tricia leans down, her large head filling your view. "I like the way humans supposedly do things", she says, smirking a bit, "but I must insist: it's been so long since the...last time...I got to indulge in this old tradition, and a tiny human would make such an interesting friend. And I don't think you'd want to be rude to someone of my stature, eh?"
Your eyes go wide at that, and Tricia lets out a laugh. "Oh, don't be so frightened! I wasn't threatening you, little one. I couldn't bring myself to hurt someone as adorable as you anyway!" She gives you a nuzzle and twitches her head at the salad platter. "Go on, pick anything you want."
How could you refuse? It was the least you could do to thank her for taking you in. You climb onto the platter and mull over the forest of deliciousness before you. The whole meal was a riot of color--berries so bright they looked like candy, lettuces of every shade of green, beans of rich browns and reds...if all salads you knew were like THIS, you'd have gone vegetarian in a heartbeat. Shrugging, you grab one of the smaller berries (at your size it was big as a basketball), and turn to find Tricia with her head level with the table, mouth wide open to recieve her treat...and her eyes closed. "Huh..?"
"It has to be a surprise," your triceratops hostess intones, not opening her eyes. "The taste's symbolism matters little if I KNOW what my guest picked in advance. Speaking of which..."
"Yes, TricIa; I picked out a morsel for you. Get ready!" That DID make some sense, you muse as you walk across the table. Despite Tricia's friendly demeanor, you still feel yourself shiver this close to her mouth. Being carried by your shirt was one thing; seing straight down her gullet was another. At your size, she could easily swallow you whole! (Not that she would, being an herbivore). Shaking the dark thoughts from your head, you heft the berry and prepare to toss it in...
