Wesley is just back from Academy taking second

Wesley thinking.....".How can I tell my mother I took second overall? Picard will think I am lower than a Kwalltec from the planet Insinceres! My dead father will be continually surrounding the Sun, never to break free from the gravitational force holding him into death! Woe is me!"
"Ready to beam to the Enterprise, Wesley"? The chief engineer asked of him. It still is a phenomena that our bioelectronic configuration can be disassembled and reassembled from one point or location to another. Many people fear it and it's discomfiture. Many refuse. Some, to the point that they will not travel in space.
This particular phobia has been compared to the popular notion that ruined huge pharmaciticals back in the early 2000's. The reaction of the public to adverse reactions verses the likelihood of good from a symptom orientated society- take this pill-for this! Motivated people and science back into emphasizing treating and curing the cause which has led to the total disappearence of the common cold, headaches and returning from war syndrome.
Wesley knew of people that went missing during normal body transfers from ship to shore, ship to ship, and ship to explore. It always happened to someone else or at the last second a brilliant mathematician or Data/Spock/Scotty type, even a Wesley
saved the day by a long forgotten or extremely imaginitive, very creative and innovative mathematical configuration bringing the lost in cyberspace pieces all back together in the transfer room. For Wesley to say," Ready for transfer", was as common as his mother not allowing him to go on away missions! A given!
We never know when our last words will be spoken or what they might be but those were Wesleys! He simply did not arrive. He wasn't there to save himself. Either was anyone else.
