Heather looked down at the tiny creature. She hated bugs; hopefully this one was the only one of its kind in their new home. Luckily, this bug was tiny.
Heather paused for a moment to wonder where Nick had gone and why he'd seemingly left suddenly and without telling her. Perhaps he was in the bathroom...? They had been talking about showering a few moments earlier.
Heather looked back at the bug. Well, she was gonna shower soon anyway; no point in worrying about getting dirty. She raised her foot slightly, then swung it forward and crushed the bug under her second toe. She looked down to see the mangled bug's corpse. It had made a little red stain. That's weird, she thought. Bugs don't usually bleed red. After a moment, she realized that it probably was a mosquito or a tick; she was glad there was one fewer disgusting, blood-sucking bug in the world. She turned to grab a change of clothes and then head to the shower.
Moments earlier, Nick looked up in awe and fear at Heather. She was so big...or rather, he was so small. How could she possibly find him? He looked around him to try to figure out where to go next. Suddenly, a shadow rose above him and for a brief instant he saw Heather's toe above him. He was so much smaller than he had initially thought--and then, nothing.
