This choice: Our Date Continues To Go Well • Go Back...Chapter #9Inqueries At The Date by: geroge As I begun to dig into our meal, the first thing to spring to my mind was just how delicious these burgers were. I had always liked Polyburger's offerings but this time it was downright delectable and I easily finished my first burger in little time.
The other thing that caught me off guard was how quickly Julie was eating, as her large pile of fries had nearly disappeared. Her physique wasn't exactly one I would have thought that put away a decent amount, but she was doing a good job keeping up with my brisk feasting.
In-between taking bites out of our food, we engaged in some small talk. Just general 'I just met you' type topics, like asking Julie how she got her job or her asking me what my favorite item was on the menu.
"*Mpph*- That was amazing!" I sighed as I polished off the last piece of food in front of me. Amazingly, I was able to finish a good chunk of our order, of course Julie also ate a large part of it too.
"Glad you -*HIC*- liked it..." she said, suppressing a hiccup.
"You didn't need to bring that much though. I feel like I'm gonna pop!" I added, putting my left hand on my drum-tight midsection.
Julie waved her hand. "You're fine. Employees get food on the house, you know. Only cost me a fraction of the usual price because they knew I was eating with a non-worker." Julie said matter-of-factly, brushing away some burger crumbs away from her bosom.
"No kidding..." I remarked while slurping from my shake. "You must get sick of food after a while yeah?"
"Me personally I'm fine with it, but others grow to hate the stuff here. Just means more for the people who enjoy it."
Julie then got herself up from her chair and slid over to what looked like a refrigerator that was next to a small desk littered with paper and name tags.
Peering over to her, I watched as she rummaged in there. "Err... you looking for something?" I rolled out slowly.
She didn't give me a response, instead she gave a "Haha" and quickly turned herself around, presenting two tall tubs.
"Fancy ice cream? Fudge Swirl is all we have in the break room though."
More food was something I probably should pass on. After that lunch I couldn't eat another bite. Buuut on the other hand something sweet did sound nice. Ice cream is pretty light so it should be fine.
"Sure thanks. Wait people keep ice cream in the break room?" I asked, just now realizing how odd an action like that was.
Julie passed me my ice cream while we went to sit down on our still very uncomfortable fold-up chairs again. "That was Josh's idea, he's one of the old guard, been working here forever. He just started doing it one summer and the rest is history."
As we started on our sweet, chilly relief to offset the savory, salty and greasy main course. I kept thinking about that job opening from yesterday and if I should go for it. Some extra cash would be nice and Julie seems to like working here enough, free food was a massive boon too.
"Hey." I said while I put my spoon down on a leftover napkin. "That job opening still available? I was thinking of applying."
"Ohh! Fancy becoming a part of the Polyburger family?" She wishfully said.
"Uhh... sure." I replied in a deadpan tone.
"Well I'll give an application form to you before you go. Fill it in and come back another time if you want to be in the running."
'In the running?' I doubt people would be clawing at each other over a job at a fast food place, but I'll take a form when Julie and I are done. I'll sleep on it and decide tomorrow I think, maybe by then I would have changed my mind.
Forgetting about it for now. I continued to enjoy my ice cream with Julie. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
