"We've gotta go to your house, my parents are home." you say as both of you walk out of the school and walk down the sidewalk to Karen's house. You stumble a little but you're already getting used to this body's center of gravity. A gust of wind blows up your skirt and it flies up a little. You push it back down with the hand not holding Karens.
"Jake, I'm scared." she says as she stops and starts crying.
You walk over to her and hug her. "It's gonna be okay, let's get to your house and figure things out." you comfort her.
"Okay." she says. "We're almost there."
You get to her house, go inside, lock the door and walk upstairs to her room. You've been in here lots of times but you have a sinking feeling in your stomach as you realize you'll probably be living here for a while. It's a very girly room, pink everywhere. On the bedsheets, blankets, walls. There's a pink dresser with a vanity mirror and makeup kit. Above her bed is a poster of the cover of a Beatles album. "Abbey Road. She's told me that before." you think. Her closet is to the left of the door, and the bathroom is to the right. You feel sick again as you realize you're going to have to learn to use the bathroom like a girl.
You both walk in and sit down on her bed. Karen starts crying and grabs you tightly. You notice how weird it is seeing your body cry, then you put your arms around her.
"It's going to be okay, Karen. We'll find a way out of this, I swear." you comfort her and she stops crying.
