the lake! I was going at a great speed, but hopefully my parachute would slow me down enough so I wouldn’t injure myself on landing.
I glided quickly down watching the lake rush to greet me. When I hit the freezing cold stabbed into me like a thousand daggers. I quickly swam upwards, or what I thought was up, I prayed silently that I’d break through the surface as already my lungs were screaming for air.
My luck held for a moment then faded, because I did swim upwards, but the parachute, stopped me from breathing in. I gulped in air as I broke the surface only to choke on the chute. I panic grappling with the material trying to tear it away.
I did finally pull it off, just as stars were beginning to dance before my eyes. I looked around finding the bank quickly wanting to get out of the water as quickly as possible. As I hauled myself out I saw soldiers moving towards me. Unsure of who they were I played dead, if they were friendly they’d go for my Dog Tag, if they weren’t… I hoped they wouldn’t make sure I was dead.
the boots stomped ever closer and stopped just before me, I was holding my breath so not to give myself away, but it was shivering that took so much control, eventually…
