Well, best make the best of the situation. You think to yourself.
"Mom, what happened?" Nanokami asks.
"Well my dear, it seems you ran off and fell down a hill and were hurt." Nanoni said. Licking the sores that had clotted and began to heal on Nanokami's back.
"Really?" Nanokami asked puzzled, he couldn't remember anything that had happened yesterday.
"Yes my darling" Nanoni said with a gleam in her eye.
"Now lets get up and walk around so that your muscles don't tense up too much, my son." Nanoni said as she pushed Nanokami slightly in the rear.
As they walked out of the cave together, Nanokami slightly limping from stiffness, the light slightly blinded them. Once their eyes adjusted to the light, Nanokami was able to look out upon the sight of the forest for the very first time that he could remember. It was large, at least to his little eyes. The scent from the pine tree drifted everywhere about him, with light dancing in beams through the boughs of the trees. Faintly in the distance he could hear water, and looked up to see a large fox sitting on a rock in front of them. He was silver and black, with a white tip on his tail. Large, round, deep blue eyes, and he appeared to be smiling at Nanokami.
"Good morning Kerani." Nanoni said to the fox.
"Good morning Nanoni. How is young Nanokami doing this morning?
"He's doing well, a little scrapped and bruised from the fall yesterday, but other than that just fine" she replied.
"Well enough for a visit from my son? He was so worried about him that he wouldn't stop bugging me to come see him today." Kerani
"Sure, I think that would be wonderful for Nanokami to have a visitor today." Nanoni said with a wolfish grin.
Out of the bushes popped a smaller version of Kerani. He darted straight for Nanokami, who withdrew behind Nanoni's large paw.
"It's ok dear, it's just Serani, he won't hurt you." Nanoni cooed softly to Nanokami.
Slowly, Nanokami edged his way from behind his mother's paw and looked and the bouncing ball of fur in front of him.
