It had been a peaceful, yet slow day for Sal. The only customers that had come in were mostly window shoppers, and even the ones who did buy something were quick to pay and get out, not wanting to chat. The reason why came through on an emergency broadcast....which detailed a warning people that a strange virus was infecting female Navis and fattening them up. That was weird, but it meant that there was going to be a lockdown due to all the havoc with the internet systems and all that was connected to it.....and no business for the next few days. Sighing, Sal dealt with the last customer that came through the shop door, and then regretfully flipped the sign to closed, shut and locked it. As she was doing that, though, a vital update on the broadcast came through.
“I-In a shocking new development, it seems that the virus is somehow able to spread into the real world through contact with an infected PET! Please ignore our previous warning and make no attempt to touch your PET or Navi, lest you get infected as well! Stay home and try not to come into contact with anyone else! Ribbita, DNN!” The broadcast’s audio was then cut off, and Sal didn’t see the video feed of a growing and panicking Ribbita stick for a while before a please standby screen replaced the footage.
“Jesus....well, I’m going to be busy, just not in the way normal people would be in a time like this....” She muttered as she pulled down the shutters and locked them, before realising she would have to disconnect from the internet....lest she catch this virus too. She’d have to call Woodman back first, though. Luckily, he was a male, so she wouldn’t get infected by the virus that way. Walking over to her PET, she called out to Woodman. “Woodman, I’m calling you back. Jack Out. Safety precaution to deal with a super virulent virus.” Sal wasn’t willing to mention said virus caused woman to gain weight....she didn’t want to confront that horror just yet.
“I can tell....heading back now.” Woodman sounded like he had seen something he didn’t want to see. “Things are getting weird out here....”
Sal watched as Woodman returned to the PET, and removed the Jack-In Plug....and winced as orange electricity sparked from it and jolted her. “Ow....” she muttered. Strangely, she felt no pain, and there were no burn marks...maybe it was just static electricity.
