This choice: Full on revolt: No work, all play, and lots of eating • Go Back...Chapter #3Full on revolt: No work, all play, and lots of eat by: docarrol "...assuré le succès du modèle de la Renaissance. Les années entre 1562 et 1598..." Jodie droned on, reading from her prepared note cards. "Mack was right; why am I doing this to myself? Why am I letting my parents push me to do this to myself? I don't care about this; I don’t care about any of this?" she thought to herself wearily, as she gazed out at the indifferent faces of the French Club.
A flash of realization: "Wait, I really don't care; Mack was right." "...Mack was right!" exclaimed Jodie, interrupting herself. "Excuse me, I've got somewhere, somewhere better to be," she toss over her shoulder as she hurried out the door.
Twenty minutes later, she was on the phone, talking to Mack. "...so that's when I realized just how right you were, Mack."
"Wow, that's some story. You don't know how glad I am that I could help you. So what are you going to do now?" he asked.
"Nothing - absolutely nothing. More specifically, I'm not letting my parents pressure me to participate in clubs in which I'm not interested, not letting them talk me into taking jobs I find morally degrading, and not letting them control what I eat or how I look. I'm done with that, all of it. From now on I'm concentrating on spending more time with you (finally), and not taking on anything unless I feel like it!" she concluded strongly. "So. Care to join me and help me celebrate my freedom, since you've been so helpful already? I'm at the Good Time Chinese Restaurant, over by the mall. If we wait another 10 minutes, we can get the cheap price at the afternoon buffet, or there's always the 2 for 1 special at Pizza King, across the street. Or if you've got a better idea, I'd love to hear it, perhaps something more romantic?" she hinted archly.
"Heh, sounds like somebody's hungry. Well, I was just on my way to football practice right now, but for a celebration like this, you definitely get the priority," Mack responded with a chuckle in his voice. "I'll be there in 20 minutes; we can talk about what we want to do then." indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
