She glanced up at the mumbling, grumbling man and shot a longing look at the recently captured man. How she longed to see what all of the commotion was about, although she knew she shouldn't investigate considering all of the trouble her curiousity had gotten her into thus far.
In a blink of an eye Kanya's facial expression changed from longing to determination. "I'll catch the next flight out. I just want to see what happens," she said to herself as she ducked under the belt barrier. She ducked down and made her way towards the officers who were dragging their newly acquired fugitive toward gate A31.
"I didn't do it!" cried the man
"Shut your mouth!" one of the officers cried, and then the officer lowered his voice. Kanya had to strain her ears to hear the next bit, "You know as well as we do that you're responsible for opening the portal. If you don't play along with us, you won't make it to see your daughter's next dance recital. Keep your mouth shut. Come quietly. The boss is waiting." They kicked open the double doors of gate A31 and strode through, disappearing in the sunlight.
"Portal," Kanya whispered. The sound of the word excited her immensely. A shiver crept down her spine, and goosebumps popped up all over her skin. She bowed her head solemnly. She knew she faced a dilemma. She was a curious one, there was no doubting that.
"What to do?" she asked herself aloud.
