Trust your instincts, don't take it

"I'm sorry..." Amelia said to the small dragon. "But my experience tells me it's booby trapped. C'mon, let's find somewhere else to shelter for the night." the little dragon seemed to sigh, but followed her none the less.
Amelia followed the source of the cool breeze wafting through the small cave, until she could see daylight. They had made it out of the cave! She wondered if the big red dragon that had chased them into the cave would come looking for them...
She turned to look up to the top of the cave, when she heard the small dragon growl. She turned, just in time to see the sun blocked out as an enormous dragon dropped in front of her. It was astrange looking one, blue, but the right side of its' body appeared to be frozen over. She took a couple of steps back, bumping into something hard and icy. The Dragons' tail had wrapped around her, blocking her routes of escape. There was no way out.
The dragons' tail wrapped around her, and lifted her up to face the dragon, who had blazing red eyes. Amelia closed her eyes and flinched away, prepared to be eaten, but after a few moments, nothing.
She turned, expecting to see an open maw, but isntead only saw those blazing red eyes, studying her. I am called Syria. a voice spoke into her mind. One of the oldest dragons on this island. I understand you are one of the contestants for the new dragon queen throne, are you not? Amelia swallowed. "Y-yes..." Bellowing laughter resounded in her mind. You humans are all the same. All you ever care about is power, money, and destroying everything you lay your filthy hands on.
Amelia felt the need to speak up, defend herself. "And how are dragons any different?! Aside from this one here at my side, every dragon I've met so far has tried to eat me!"
Humans are a rare delicacy on this island you see, and not many of us are as...civilized...as we used to be. Syria blinked slowly. I'll tell you what human, tell me then, are you different from the others of your kind? Have you truly come here seeking to make this place better, or just to grasp power over something else?
Amelia considered this for a moment, then responded. "I..."
