The history of Bio-Androids starts around 30 years ago. The first ever Bio-Android was named Sonny, and he was primitive compared to the bio-androids of today. More than a cyborg, but less than a robot. Bio-Androids have both mechincal and biological parts. Sonny didn't have any emotions, and the next series of bio-androids didn't have any emotions either. Nor could they experience pain of any sort. Bio-Androids were designed to be in combat situations. With thier lack of emotion, bio-androids felt no fear of death. However, the money for the use of bio-androids in the military ran out, so bio-androids were never used in the military. Sonny is still living to this day, although nobody knows where he lives.
Bio-Androids can perform acts that normal humans cannot. For example, bio-androids can swallow a person down whole. The bio-android can't digest, so the person is kept in the stomach. The reason for this was to capture or rescue people on the battlefield. Bio-Androids can also heal a person in thier stomach, or remove poisons. That's what happened to Gene Starwind when he was poisoned. Melfina smiply ate him and removed all the poison in Gene's body. Gene has few memories of being in Melfina's stomach.
Melfina isn't just a normal bio-android. She's connected to the Galactic Leyline, even when she doesn't need that part of herself anymore. Melfina hasn't used that part of herself--the Maiden of the Leyline--since the Outlaw Star crew went to the Leyline. That happened over a year ago now. Gene, Jim, Aisha and all the rest of the Outlaw Star crew now lives on Heifong now.
