Fox entered his quarters with the slow tread of the really exhausted, and sat in his favorite chair with a long sigh. What a day... They'd flown five missions in a row, and finally earned some time off. Drowsy as he was, Fox had no idea how he was going to spend his vacation, and decided that he'd sleep on it. He was so tired that he wound up falling asleep in his chair, and woke up hours later feeling a little sore from sleeping while sitting up. He stretched, yawned, and began to cross his room to his bed when he noticed something on the table. It was a holo-message, a little disk that contained a short recording, and a red rose lay in front of it. Had that been there when he'd come in? Or had someone put it there when he'd been asleep? None of his crewmates were really the type to leave roses...
The idea of an intruder sneaking onto the ship while they were gone was disturbing, but not half as disturbing as someone coming into his room while he was sleeping and leaving a note. Gingerly, he picked up the holo-message, and pressed 'Play'.
Instantly the image of Panther Caroso's head appeared above the disk, and his deep, purring rumble of his voice came out of the speaker in time with the movement of his mouth.
"Fox McCloud, is is I, Panther Caroso of the Starwolf Team... I have tried to ignore my feelings for the sake of professionalism, but I cannot hold back any longer. I have been captivated by you since the first moment I lay eyes on you. From that day, I have desired only to make you mine, to love and worship you as a creature of your exquisite beauty deserves. If you could find it in your heart to give me the opportunity, I would eternally grateful. Please, do me the honor of joining me for a romantic dinner tomorrow night. I promise, you won't live to regret it..."
Starfox dropped the holo-message, looking a little freaked-out. Panther was... interested in him? The infamous ladies man, Panther, was interested in Fox, who might not have been the manliest guy in the galaxy, but definitely a guy. Maybe there was a mistake, and this was meant for Krystal? But no, it was addressed to him, and Panther had said his name directly. This was just crazy.
Still... Panther was a handsome cat, and the message was flattering... And it wasn't like Fox had anything else to do...
But what if it was a trap? Maybe Wolf O'Donnell had made Panther say those things, in order to lure Fox to his doom. Or maybe Panther himself was lying just to get Fox, and clear the way to Krystal.
Fox picked up the rose, sniffing it and looking contemplative.
What to do...
