Jacki's youngest, Cassie screamed. A rectangular portal over two kilometers high had opened in the nearest and highest cliff face. And in it stood framed an alien. An Earth woman almost as tall as the doorway itself. They stared at her pale five toed bare feet, her toes far taller than any one of them, and her skyscraper legs. Cassie buried her face in Jacki's chest and sobbed in fear. Jacki didn't know what to say.

'Please come quicky, Conrad,' she thought, 'We need you!'

Judy stood in the doorway to her kitchen. With the kids away it was a quiet but dull evening. She had been watching TV and had popped to the kitchen to get:
