Jared suddenly realized he had soccer practice, so he got dressed in his shorts, jersey, socks and cleats. He left the house and started to walk towards the soccer field, when suddenly, he began to rise into the air by an unknown and invisible force!
“Whoa! Hey! What the hell?” Jared gasped loudly as his body began to hover in the air as it gently hovered over to the soccer field on its own. Once Jared arrived at the soccer field, he descended until he remained floating a foot above the ground. That was when Drew walked up to him.
“Great! Ready to be awesome on the soccer field, bro?” Drew said with a wide grin.
“Uh… I always try to do my best. Can you set me on the ground, please?” Jared asked him. “I’m still floating above the ground!”
“Nope! I’m gonna make you play as I watch you from the bleachers. Don’t worry. You’ll do great!” Drew said with a wide grin.
“I gotta run and kick the ball!” Jared argued. “You gotta let me play like all the other kids!”
“There is nothing in the rules that says that you can’t be floating a few inches above the ground, bro!” Drew stated. “Don’t worry about a thing. Just remember, I’m in complete control!”
Drew sat down in the bleachers as Jared glided onto the field, although his cleats were clearly three inches above the grass. Nobody seemed to notice or even care. One boy came up to Jared.
“Hey, Jared. So, Is Drew making you play today?” Tristan asked him, as he looked down and saw how Jared was floating above the turf with his cleats still pointing towards the ground.
“Uhh… Yeah… Drew is uhh… He’s gonna make me move across the pitch during the game!” Jared just answered.
“Ah! Very cool! Well, have a good game, bro!” Tristan shrugged. “You’re lucky that all your movements are controlled remotely. We need to decide what we’re gonna do. WE all need to kick and run. In your case, someone else gets to decide what you do and where you’re at. I guess you’re lucky!”
The ref blew the whistle, and Jared found his body gliding across the pitch at high speed, even with his feet hovering an inch above the turf. When the ball came to him, his legs kicked the ball towards his teammates. As he got closer to the opponents’ goal, he kicked the ball to another teammates, or towards the goal if he saw an opening. Finally, Jared had an assist, and his teammate scored. A few minutes later, Jared scored a goal as well!
Drew made Jared glide towards the bleachers when the match was over. He ordered Jared to sit down next to him.
“Hey! You did great!”
“Uhh… Well… I didn’t do anything! You MADE me do all the work!” Jared grinned.
“Yup. This is more fun than a video game! You were the best player on the field!” Drew chuckled. “I’m gonna do this for every practice from now on!”
Before Jared could respond, his body suddenly rose up, ascending high into the air as Drew looked on and waved.
“Whaah!” Jared yelped.
“Don’t worry, bro. I am in complete control.” Drew’s voice rang inside of Jared’s ears.
Jared ascended to over fifty feet into the air, with his feet dangling towards the ground, as he slowly started to float towards his house. Jared slowly flew over his street, his school, and his house, until he arrived at the front lawn of his house where he gradually descended until his feet touched down on the sidewalk. Then, in an instant, Jared vanished and popped up standing in his own bedroom, all thanks to Drew’s powers.
“WOW! I went to soccer, I scored two goals, and I came back and I feel like I really didn’t do anything!” Jared exclaimed as he sat at his desk.
