This spider lives where it shouldn't |
I found this under my boy's picnic table. I was getting ready to pack it in the car to take to grandma's campsite for our visit, but didn't because of this beauty. Not cool where it was at! Now, it is (Was) in a jar awaiting a new home. Anyway, it was a spotty photo of a black widow. I took the thing with me to work and was showing most everyone. At home, I asked the mail Lady if she knew what a black widow looked like and she said yes, so I showed her my spider and she verified it was a widow. Truth is, excited as I was, I would rather I didn't have them in my yard. Two years ago there was a fellow who supposedly found the second widow ever to be found in my county. Course, I knew they never searched my yard for the critters, cause I seem to have them! I have red ants too! Yesterday, I took my oldest boy out and showed him a red ant nest built over an old, old tree stump. There were thousands of red ants crawling all over it and it was awesome to behold. Being youthful, he took a stick and was about to stir up trouble and I stopped him. I tried to get the point across that we don't need to stir up trouble when we can enjoy nature, but I doubt it took. Won't stop me from trying to get the point across... I will link the image of the table I found this spider under. The bird was on this same table but years earlier. I think this is a special table, drawing in interesting creatures... |
