Triangular patches sound cool -- that way you can mix and match. I hemmed a couple fabric squares into handkerchiefs and then got ambitious and started a tank top. I traced around one I bought a couple years ago, then started hand-sewing. It's coming out pretty well! It's a little crooked, but I'll cut myself some slack -- it's a beginning project. Really, you have a big market for historical clothing? I wish I lived there! I love to dress up and pretend I'm living in another time period, and I often go out in public wearing...kind of weird stuff. I get odd looks sometimes. Actually, since my "costumes" consist of mostly just long skirts, tunic-type shirts, and my hair coiled into a bun, I think people think I'm some kind of strange breed of Amish and they ignore the unusual clothes. We have lots of Amish people around here, and the women mostly wear really dumpy-looking hand-sewn dresses made out of uncomfortable-looking material! Good luck with your LA plans! I've never been to LA. If you go, you'll have to tell me all about it!!!! Visit my web site at http://elizabeth.bouma-holtrop.com! |
