I think it's cool how stage and screen acting are very different. I think most people watch a lot more movies than live plays, so the mass public is used to thinking that acting is a very subtle art. But on stage -- you need to overdo it, send it out there so the people in the very last row in the audience can feel your character. And yet, there's still room for a thousand subtleties onstage. What think you? Jimmy, Rachel and I are excited about making movies these days. Jimmy's been talking about making a movie for over a year now; he's writing a script and hoping to film with a cast of NBTSCers next year. It's very cool. Now Rachel and I are getting interested, and we're thinking of filming some short (maybe half-hour and hour-long) movies. Jim and/or I could write scripts; they'd each have three characters, since that's as many actors we have. Rachel keeps yakking aobut cool low-budget films, and I adore writing and acting, and Jimmy loves the camera we borrow from the HC library, so...there's nothing stopping a trio of hyper teenagers (sorry, two teenagers and one 20-something) from making cool movies! Annie asked me in her most recent letter, "What would you want to do on a movie set?" And then she said, "You're so cool, Beth!" And I stared at that page and melted. Dunno why. Just...because. Dunno why I'm telling you this, either. Just...because. ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** |
