Yeah..it's a new ball game for me too!! This is the first I had to deal with the itchy skin. I about went crazy! In my bible of menopause.."What you doctor may not tell you about Menopause"..by John R.Lee,M.D. page 252-254 explains everything that can happen to your skin including acne, seborrhea, rosacea, psoriasis, keratoes and itching of the skin.

You can use over the counter cortisone cremes and progesterone cremes. I used both. But the minute my period was over...so was the itchy skin. I thought I was going to go crazy with the itch. It would wake me up during the night and I would be scratching. Now nothing! That's when it hit me...the connection between the two.

I did add it to the symptoms. It's listed as #12..skin problems, but I did add after that "itchy skin". There are many symptoms I didn't hit on. They only listed certain symptoms. As I hear about them or get them which I hope that isn't the case, I'll add them. The best thing is to read, read and read!!

Isn't it weird that doctors want to test you for everything but they don't mention menopause. Like you Earthy..they tested your liver. I just had the worst migraine that I've ever had in my life and no one ask me about Menopause. They're trying to get me to have every test possible on my head...including a spinal tap which they are completely out of their minds because no one is poking me in the spin. No one.... No one once mentioned menopause and maybe "we" should test your hormone levels. No one. Unreal. It's like they can't say the word. MENOPAUSE!!!!!!!!!! Well, I'll go through with the MRI and the EEG, already had the CAT scan and nothing showed there. Then they can take the medicine that I just spend $36.00 for yesterday and shove it because it made me sick as a dog after just one pill. Then I'll do what I always do...the natural path. It takes longer and you have to keep taking it but at least your hair won't fall out as a side effect. Unreal. Just amazing. I hope these medical people soon wake up.

But yes...itchy skin is part of menopause. I'll at least know the next time my period rolls around that I don't have bugs! Because that's exactly how bad it was. Just felt like bugs crawling all over my upper arms, across my upper shoulders and the back of my left leg. How weird is that? But 3/4 of the way through my period...it left.

So, here is yet some more information ladies! Are we having fun yet? What is next? We'll get through it and we're taking great notes for our daughters.
