The 31 days is somewhat of a common belief, but several folks look at establishment of a writer as one that's been around for 6 months. That's not to say, you're just here for 6 months and that's it. I think a good established writer has actively made a presence on the site.
Entering contests, reviewing, rewarding good reviews, and of course, writing, to me make up the definition of an established WDC writer.
Keep doing any of those things, at some point regardless of how long you've been here, the tenure and really, just a feeling of having set a foundation will come naturally. I wouldn't really put a number to it, nor do I think anyone should.
