Re: Anger emoticon
Hmmm... If you post angry about something, people sharing that *Angry* emotion with you would be better to use that reaction than for them *Laugh*'ing at you or giving you a *Cool* emotion.

I find it interesting you single out the anger emotion... Any emoticon can be inappropriate depending on the post. If you just lost your parent or pet, I don't think the average person leaving a *Thumbsup* or a *Laugh* or even a *Cool* would be good. Probably those would be offensive in many contexts. There's lots of times a *ThumbsUpL* is pretty un-gentle, is it not? My Dad died a couple years back and I sure wouldn't have wanted people to *Thumbsup* that...

Yes, I understand that you don't want anyone to use any emoticon improperly when reacting to a blog entry... Just like we don't want people to comment non-nicely. I think most people feel the same and it is of course is very reasonable to not want a negative interaction. I just don't follow the getting down on reactions because they became more encompassing with more options than just a single "like" action.

From a reader's perspective, I don't know if I "like" people not knowing whether they "must" comment vs leave a quick reaction. Too many options like that don't make things better. I honestly think you're better off blocking someone who reacts inappropriately to your entries... rather than Writing.Com creating a segmented system to help make sure you don't ever have to block someone for leaving a reaction you disagree with.

Best,
~~SM
