I want to write a scene for my novel It's a girl being fired from a waitressing job Third person (limited perspective -hers) language is fairly plain, colloquial dialogue and fragments of detail. the focus will be on reactions and actions, consequences. i will spill into melodrama for sure. Maybe a future edit will curb that - fingers crossed. Details: the waitressing job is for a private party she got the job from a card on a noticeboard in her dorm the work is being offered by her future bf's mother the family is wealthy the girl is getting by with help from her parents, but she feels guilty Aim: to establish the character dynamic between the three characters rich bf/poor gf disapproving mother high society/ everyday life to create an up-against it underdog vibe Structure: to start with the first big mistake, move onto the consequences, and end in the dismissal - cigarettes or something outside with bf - shared moment. highlights: reaction of protagonist to fury of mother and ridicule of guests, the fear on the part of the protagonist of not being able to get through uni, the compassion showed by the bf I want to sketch this out in three to four drafts for the end of the week. Then I'll save it and leave it until I am ready to see it with writer's eyes. - Also -fingers crossed. |
