Just a quick note - so it happened. A fire broke out near Castaic Lake and they pretty much put out an evacuation order yesterday. I had about 3 1/2 hours of sleep when my son woke me up. He could see the fire from our back yard. I got on Cal Fire and Genasis and they both had good, accurate up to date information on the fire. Castaic Lake has an upper lake and a lower lake. The upper lake is in the shape of the V. the fir caught in the the middle of the V and burned down to the lake, but then burned over the right hand side of the V and came down close to the community. By then the firefighters and airdrops were on it. They put out an evac notice about 2 pm and my husband had come home from work. Me and the boys and dog went to Simi Valley and stayed with in laws over night. By the time I went to sleep last night around 11, the fire was 14 percent contained, and burning into the los angeles national forest away from the population. This morning, we are "normal" and back at the house. My oldest son and I are exhausted, and I'm going to lay down here in a bit. The house is good. If anything, it smells like an oversized campfire.
