Noticing Newbies

Hi there! It's nice to meet everyone. I've only just registered today, but I'm really excited to explore the community and start making some friends with the same passion for writing as myself. I'm still figuring out how everything works, so if anyone has any tips for a newbie on the site, or things I should explore and participate in, please let me know. I'd love to chat and get to know you!

I went ahead and posted my first work in my profile. It was mostly just meant as a one-shot to help me practice writing dialogue, which I consider the skill I'm weakest in, but another part of me would be interested in continuing it. You'll find that most of my works are set in the Fantasy genre, mostly because that's what I love to read and what I find the most enjoyable to write, but I'm hoping that I'll strike up the nerve to start experimenting and try something new. Don't be afraid to let me know what you enjoy writing! I'd love to hear about the sorts of things other members are interested in. It's taken me a lot of time and courage to share my writing with the friends and family in my life, so these sorts of communities are nice, since I'm able to receive feedback from unbiased strangers. Somehow that makes me feel a little more comfortable than sharing it with someone I know personally. Has anyone else ever felt similarly? Writing has always been a private hobby of mine, and I've been doing it for as long as I can remember, but only recently have I felt like I wanted to do it on a more professional level.
