Bad Dream

The alarm was blaring!

He hated that sound but unfortunately it was necessary as he was a heavy sleeper and needed a loud harsh sound to get him out of bed.

But, what the heck? Today is Saturday – It’s my day off! He reached over and shut it off with an angry swat.

Planning on going back to sleep, Todd rolled over and pulled the covers over his head.

As he closed his eyes, he heard a strange sound. A sort of gushing, sloshing sound. What now?

He stormed out of bed and threw open the bedroom door. Todd couldn’t believe his eyes. Water was pouring out from under the kitchen sink – there was already about an inch of water on the kitchen and living room floors. Racing to the kitchen, he flung open the cabinet door and shut off the valve. The water stopped.

The crackling sound came out of nowhere. Looking to his right, he saw sparks and smoke billowing out from under the refrigerator. He started towards the refrigerator but lost his footing and slipped on the wet floor. Landing hard of his right arm, he heard a snap and was immediately in tremendous pain. His arm bent at a right angle; it was obviously broken.

The smoke alarm began shrieking.

Todd’s dog, Max, was up on top of the dining room table, barking and whining, looking helplessly at Todd lying on the floor.

Todd’s heart was racing, and he was in full panic mode. He began yelling for help, hoping that possibly one of his neighbors might hear him and come to his rescue.

All at once there was silence.

Todd sat up in bed with a start – he realized it was all just a dream!

Phew! What a huge relief. It’s my day off.
