A month-long novel-planning challenge with prizes galore. |
"Day 22: Setting Definitions" Actually wanted to finish Outline #2 (day 15), but kinda got a mental blank – my brain simply refuses after I wrote almost the whole day. Maybe I'll "cheat" a little and tie Outline Assignments #2 + #3 together... I'll see how much time I'll have on my hands tomorrow, and how much energy after today's tour de force. |
Time to take a break. Go outside. Walk around. How about a bear picture? Bear family - #399 and her cubs This bear just tragically got killed recently when hit by a car. But she was famous for being 28 years old and still reproducing. The oldest known bear in the Yellowstone/Teton ecosystem to still be bearing cubs. Bear 399 was a celebrity in those parts. The picture shows her with the 4 cubs she had one year. Unheard of in the bear world. 2023 Quill Finalist. 2023 Quill Nominee. Quill Finalist Logo 2022 . It does sound like you can use a break since you spent all day writing. One thing you could do: instead of outlining more of the entire novel, pick one section to outline. Are there a couple of scenes or a certain part that you can already picture. Just because the assignment is outline that doesn't mean every single draft needs to be for the entire story. There are options. |
You've got this! It's totally understandable to be burned out after a busy day (a busy month!) of writing, though. And if it comes right down to the wire, the assignments only require 15 minutes of work, so if you're not able to complete the assignments, you can always at least do 15 minutes of work on them, log them, and then finish them later! |

Wow, Ms. QueenNormaJean maybesnow?! – what an AMAZING animal... but what a tragic end! (And since it was midnight, I went to bed instead of walking' around.) |
You're definitely right, Dawn Embers . The thing is that we Germans are raised to "start and finish" things, so that made me lose sight of the "intermediate". After a good night's sleep – and realizing there are certain days in the month/year important for both MCs – I "restructured" the story so that it "layaways" along this string of "day pearls." The result was mind boggling to my Inner German. |
Thank you, Ms. Roseille ♥ . I know, but this "casual" way of doing things SO clashed with my Inner German. Here, we MUST finish what we start (dunno what happens when we don't, everyone just DOES) – otherwise we're useless sloths. BUT: I found a way to sidestep her. I restructured the outline in a way that it now traverses along a string of days during the month / year that are significant for both MCs... and on which they each alone – and sometimes together – have insights that help them progress & heal. Work so far. |
Thank you, azrael . That would've been a valid idea, too BUT: I found another solution. I restructured the outline in a way that it now traverses along a string of days during the month / year that are significant for both MCs... and on which they each alone – and sometimes together – have insights that help them progress & heal. Work so far. |
Beware, I might "use" that feature! Nah, NEVER forgot to log so far, won't start now anymore |
