A month-long novel-planning challenge with prizes galore. |
Hey wonderful writers, Hope is all going well with your planning process. Today’s assignment is: Oct. 14: - General: Freestyle Brainstorm, World Building or Research Spend at least fifteen minutes clarifying things through "What If" brainstorming, mind mapping (see resources at the bottom of the calendar), freestyle writing, lists, drawings or research as follows: World Building: For fantasy, science fiction, or other speculative fiction, develop the history, economy, geology, ecology, and/or maps for your world. You might find this activity helpful: "World Weavers' Workshop" Research: For reality-based fiction, research aspects of your novel that will lend credibility to your writing. You may also choose to use this time to finish a previous assignment that needs more time. I love these freestyle brainstorming days. I often take these days to get caught up, the brainstorming helps me find my way further into my story. I hope you are hearing some cogs shift into place. A few resources: https://www.novel-software.com/worldbuilding-questionnaire/ For researching: During Nano I often glaze over details I may have to research later, but for this just give yourself than 15 minutes to look into things... it may just help inspire your story line. Any questions brewing? Ask away. |
