I've got a few ideas floating around for contest entries. I don't like saying what I'm working on, because I tend to deplete my exuberance for the project when I talk about it. My goal this week is to work on at least one of these pieces:

I'm working on a horror piece (that I'm having a lot of trouble making scary, lol. This is a typical problem I have with writing horror!

Another is a possible Sci-Fi story, but I only have the briefest gleam of an idea I'm chasing. If this gets worked on I will be lucky to sketch out an idea and begin a draft.

The third possibility is a love poem I'm wrestling onto the page. Why do I feel like I hunt and capture prose but wrestle poetry?

I'd like to write at least one more stanza. If that doesn't make the poem feel complete, then I might have to add a stanza. If this is the case, I'd like to at least know where I'm going with that one, even if its not all the way pinned down yet.
D&D
Speaking of writing! I'm pretty close to having enough of my homebrew D&D campaign finalized. At least far enough to lead my intrepid adventurers (Bug and Badger, in case you are wondering) into the Forest Everlasting, which is where the adventure will begin.
I have a few goals here:

I would like to finish my brainstorming over the major pieces of world-building that the characters would know from living in the world.

I would like to write out a guide that includes everything I, as the DM, would know about the world. I can always make things up at the table as it comes up, but I want a succinct World Guide to refer to. I also want to write a more limited guide for each player. After all, their characters will only know some things about their world, not everything. And they'd know different things. Gives them a chance to share info, too.

Bug is playing a Ranger, so I need to write a guide for him that includes what the Ranger would know. He has traveled further and talked to more people, than the other character. He might have even visiting one of the cities within the Known Woods. He will definitely know more about the different types of Giants that roam the Forest.

I also need to write a guide for Badger, who is playing a more reclusive Druid. She would know a lot more about the magic of the forest, and will have nursed adventureres who have tried to discover the end of the woods.
Besides appointments and chores and phone calls (oh my!), this is how the bulk of my week will be spent. Reading, teaching, and writing. It kind of is the ideal life, now that I think about it.
