Hi, I am looking ahead and reading the assignment for 10-7. Describing the Climax. OK—UH - is there a trick to figuring out what the climax is? I have over 60 "What-ifs", but now I am not sure I even thought about it. Right now I have no clue. Clueless in hick-town Bakersfield Chrys |

It should be something that changes everything but is still believable. A good climax should also be emotionally impactful. This is what will stay with the reader long after they finish the story. But the most important thing about a good climax: the protagonist needs to make a choice. This choice needs to be the hardest choice they've made in the entire story and show how much the character has grown. The climax is where your character proves they really are a changed person. This choice is usually the climactic moment of the story – the climax within the climax. Now I have to think about this while finishing the book I'm reading. I think I know the answer, but I'll refer to these ideas as I finish. Image #2291665 over display limit. -?- . Image #2291664 over display limit. -?- . Image #2273455 over display limit. -?- . If you were this character what would you want the ending of this story to be? Is it a failure, triumph, something learned and acted upon that makes the biggest difference, or... Think about an event in your life that had a dramatic change and create this for your character, or read some story endings to see what writers have done and then think about how you want things to end for your character. Hi thank you all for your responses. The links were beneficial and helped me to admit, out loud, that I honestly don't know how I expect this to end. The links were very helpful. So I have decided to revisit her arc, I changed her again, and go back and brainstorm possible endings. (Play the what-if game with endings ). I hope to have all this done by Monday evening. Again thank you all, Chrys |
