A month-long novel-planning challenge with prizes galore. |
I have finally found how I can pull this off... how about this: (1) Setup: Lisa Hinkley is a top, outspoken newspaper journalist with a passion for crime investigations. She is well-respected and liked But something is off, she suffers daily physical and mental abuse from the Deputy Sheriff, her husband. Despite her love for him and the belief that he will change, she snaps and stabs him, leaving him for dead. Opportunity: With the help of her friends, Lisa changes her looks, assumes the identity of a dead Police Detective, Kelly Bass, and flees to San Francisco. chrys I am open to all suggestions |
Like a good guy version of Lois Reiss... However, because this has been done in real life, there is a lot out there that you can use to research how she did it, how she got caught, where she slipped up, etc. In fact, if your character knows about this, can try to use this to avoid those errors. However, the protagonist taking on the role of a police officer elsewhere in the country, maybe taking advantage of no cross-jurisdiction communication or the like, is a nice twist, and with her background, is one she should be able to maintain. And when the husband comes back (assuming you are still going that route)... new life, meet old life... |
1,000 GPs were sent to Chrys O'Shea with this post. You know the saying - You can run but you cannot hide. Or this - be sure your sins will find you out. Okay, my thoughts. Daily abuse of any kind will make anyone snap. I don't fault her for that anger. But I don't see that a stabbing attempt will kill him. Somehow, evil always wins a small battle. So he survives and now is on the hunt for his wife. And he is madder than ever. She can change identities, but her husband has the ability to search for her using the police force and all its contacts. So she has to go underground in a major way. And perhaps she gets wrapped up in some very ugly stuff that puts what she went through with her husband seem minor. Just a few thoughts. You do you. NJ 2023 Quill Finalist. 2023 Quill Nominee.
