A month-long novel-planning challenge with prizes galore. |
I just finished protagonist profiles for the twins. They're part Native American(Indiginous) and part African American(Black). They are named Brock and Chanda Freeman.(yes their parents know Brock exists thanks to a pediatrician) They're catholic and since Brock is part of Chanda they go to the same school.(which is controversial I know!) This is Their first year of High School in Los Lunas, New Mexico. The best news is I know Los Lunas but don't know anybody who lives there! So hopefully when this gets published nobody can say it's about them.(I hope) I'm looking forward to getting to know Chanda and Brock! Sorry just excited. |
Congratulations! Sounds like you're having a blast! Keep it up! I'm finding I still don't know my characters. I'm struggling just to name them at this point. lol |
Let them name themselves, watch out for what they are good at have you hugged your writer |
There's websites for baby names when I'm struggling for a name for one of my characters thats usually where I go. Anyways, just a suggestion! Good luck! |
1,000 GPs were sent to NaNotatoGo! with this post. Just make up your own Los Lunas. Does it have to be the same as the real place? Cannot it be a duplicate reality? This is fiction, right? And as authors we can create anything we wish. Perhaps rename it 'Las Lunas' or 'Las Luna'. I was confused as to why Brock and Chandra going to the same school would be controversial. Or did I miss something along the way? Queen NormaJean 2023 Quill Finalist. 2023 Quill Nominee. Quill Finalist Logo 2022 . Quill Nominee Signature 2022 Preferred Author |
Naming can be quite an interesting process. Sometimes the names scream at you, other times you have to dig deeper to find anything. But if excitement is following, then that's usually a good sign. SuperPower Signature |
Yeah, I've been googling names for old ladies. Currently, I'm thinking Beatrice Ann Maiden, and people call her Bea? Her initials are B. A. Maiden. Lol Yeah, she's single, though at her age, she more of a matron, but that seemed too on-the-nose. I'm still not settled on that name, though. The younger guy seems easier -- probably Jessie. And I've got 4 more books. None of the names are coming easily this year. I often just know their name, but not this year. |
It's controversial because if the rest of the all girls Catholic school Chanda attends knew Brock was in the same body, the nuns would throw a fit...and probably some of the parents as well. I mean this is the South Western United States we're talking about. Chanda and Brock's parents know about their condition but they wanted their child(ren) to have a good non-public school education. Their parents want them to avoid the perils of Public School in Valencia County. They figured a Catholic school was the best bet, however most Catholic schools are either boys only or girls only. The protag's secret can't be leaked. |
I'm impressed! Prepping characters for five novels all at once seems like quite the task. |
Don't be impressed until I've survived at least 2 weeks. Lol I keep getting behind. Eek! |
