Select all - make sure your entire document has been selected.
Copy this. In the old Google docs it was CTRL+c, so I would assume it hasn't changed.
In the new item creation page, on the blank "your writing goes here" section, paste it. (CTRL+v)
Two things to remember: formatting is not transferred (italics, bold, underline, etc.); you will have to use WdC ML to do these. And, 2, if you use indents, these also won't be transferred. It might look like it after first pasting, but they will disappear. You will need to add {indent} to the start of each paragraph. (IF you use indents).
I would also recommend once you have pasted making the font size larger than default, and adding some linespacing.
