Exercise 4

What kind of market is it? Who is selling what? Story takes place in modern day France. All marketing will be done in local shops.

Where does the market take place? Why in that place? Various places.

When is the market held? Is it often or regularly or more like a seasonal fair? Small farming communities dominate the area. All shopping will take place as normal for modern times.

What or who else can be encountered at the market? Thieves? Police? Tourists? Stray dogs? All of the above could be present. The story will focus more on other things.

Exercise 5

How do these groups intersect? What brings them into contact with each other? Groups involved - French government, American government. Normandy Memeorial commision and any official keeping records of the D-Day invasion. Marie's cousin, and the Ghost of an American soldier. Marie will intersect with all of them eventually. The ghost will only intersect with Marie.

How do these groups interact? Where? Why? How? Marie will interact at some point will all groups while she researches D-Day and tries to figure out who the ghpst is from D-Day records.

How do these groups (generally) perceive the others? Marie finds it difficult to get any information at all. It takes until the end of the story to finally get the ghost completely identified.

What are the power dynamics between the groups? Marie will encounter some difficulty from government officials - some deserved, some just power trips by those involved.

Exercise 6

What might pose a threat or risk to the group? Many things will pose a risk or threat during the story. Most significantly is Marie herself. She is very anti-military and anti-war. She will struggle coming to terms with the fact that she is helping an American soldier. She will also meet some resistance as she researches the ghost based upon his first name. That's all he can remember at first. She is also extremely clautrophobic. That comes into play at the end of the book.

How could that risk be eliminated or minimised? Marie changes as the story progresses, becoming less anti-military and more supportive of the struggles. In the end, she will battle and overcone her fear as she finds the Ghost's remains.

What -- or who -- might stand in the way and why? Marie's biggest foe? Herself.

What does the group, or individuals in the group, want in order to prosper? Does not really apply here.
What -- or who -- might stand in the way and why? Marie herself because of her attitudes and fears.

Exercise 7

Go back over your notes from the past week. Do any further research, add to your notes, and make any adjustments or corrections.

If you have any other ideas that you want to get down at this point, submit those too.

No changes. Answers stand as written.
