Daily Flash Fiction Challenge

The soldiers dropped their packs and wiped their dirty, sweaty faces.
Lieutenant Arkly sauntered between the lines of men in his platoon.
"Okay, listen up, men. They want us to recon that hill to find possible avenues of attack. Our butts are going to be hanging out on this one," the Lieutenant said.
The soldiers silently digested this information.
"Okay, men, place your unneeded material here," Lieutenant Arkley said.
The soldiers began their climb up the base of the hill.
"Do you smell something funny?" Private Rodham asked the soldier moving ahead of him?
"Whatever it is, it smells good," Pfc. Bender said.
"This is a strange place. It looks like Disney Land," Corporal Jennings stated.
"Okay, men. We're retreating. They are drugging us in some way, and if we don't get out of here quickly we will all be taken prisoner or killed. Men, turn around and go!
"Noooo! I don't want to go. I want to stay here. The trees are so beautiful," Private Rodham said.
Lieutenant Arkly flipped the safety on his M16, brought the gun to his shoulder, and swore angrily.
"Rodham! Get yourself under control! We all could die here," the Platoon Leader said.
There was the sound of an M16 firing on automatic, and Lieutenant Arkly fell dead, his blood soaking his shirt.
"Come on you guys. Let's find these people who are making the world so beautiful for us," Corporal Jennings said dreamily.

"See, Ngo, this stuff makes babies out of grown men in about thirty seconds," the Major stated.
"How fascinating! What happens now?"
"We will kill them. They have no intelligence value," the Major stated.
"Ah ... so. We are hunting bigger fish," Ngo said.
"We are going to start targeting units tomorrow," the Major stated.
