Noticing Newbies

Hello,

I just learned about this amazing place and I am so excited to be here. I am currently writing a short one-act play, and I have been looking for a place to feed my creative inner self. I love writing and tend to specialize in writing for stage. However, I am also looking to expand my skill set to hopefully earn a living through my passion for writing. I am hoping to meet like minded individuals that enjoy reading and offering their critiques of my work as I build my portfolio. I recently left my career as a theatre teacher after 11 years, to pursue writing full time. I had always planned to write as a teacher, but working 11 to 13 hour days sometimes 6 days a week, can take it's toll. What little free time I did have was spent resting or spending much needed time with family. I am hoping to have a better work/life balance now that I am not teaching, but I am already getting nervous about the "no steady income" part of it all. If anyone has recently made the move from gainfully employed to self employed writer, I would welcome any tips or advice you may have. Thanks for reading, and I hope to hear from you soon!
