Message forum for readers of the BoM/TWS interactive universe. |
The reason it was discarded was partly because it got weird pretty quick, partly because it was early on the interactive's development, and partly because the premise itself seemed counter to the idea behind the interactive itself (which is why rugal mentioned the discussion was irrelevant with such firmness). On the second reason, you'll mostly notice how the branch followed the more traditional format of an interactive (to put it nicely). BoM distances itself by an implicit quality control that said branch lacked; that it had no focus also effectively buried it, and when Seuzz decided to refine the content, that branch became the first and most important one to be excised (and also, because Seuzz IIRC mentioned he really disliked that branch for multiple reasons). However, the current discussion blurs the line between being too similar to that branch and what we have now. BoM has cryptids, and more have been surfacing recently. Ettins, lamias, loup-garou, dryads, whatever the heck was creating the fire cult that Will and al-Bayoumi had to stop; all of these have been present in one way or another. Most of those, of course, are too distinct from a human to enter this discussion, but those rare few that do merit some discussion - which is what's happening (and what has effectvely taken over this thread. I find it fascinating how one tangent topic can overcome a discussion related to something else, and how often it tends to happen - not just here, but everywhere else.) I feel that, even if it never happens on BoM or even TWS (where you'd expect the cryptids to appear), it's a worthwhile discussion. At its best, it frames a deeper question: what *counts* as a human in this world? And I feel it's a discussion that should be taken on another thread, and just let this one focus on the relationship between Will and Sydney. |
