Well, I meant more that somebody was taking advantage of the way that Chelsea uses sex to manipulate than using her looks specially. Additionally, neither Chelsea herself nor Clover are particularly shy when it comes to lying about their intentions, especially Clover to lull Will into a false sense of security. I think taking Clover’s words at face value, especially in this context, is a mistake. I also don’t think there’s necessarily any deep meaning to why Will specifically is being targeted either, though it’s possible there is. Clover most likely knows that Will was the original possessor of the Libra, and they definitely know he was the person who dug up the time capsule, so I find it quite probable that the person behind Clover started off by messing with him over the time capsule, and as they worked their way through the book, decided that the person they were messing with already was as good a test subject as any. Little about Clover’s targeting of Will feels particularly malicious beyond the sense that she’s doing it for her own amusement. I definitely agree that this is most likely far beyond what Carson and James would do to their friend. I do think that if it’s anybody that Will knows, it’s most likely Laura, especially given how odd she was acting when talking to Will in Jack. (The details of this route are slowly coming back to me lol.) While it’s not technically impossible that it could be Fairfax and the TV crew, I’d be very skeptical of that given that I don’t think it matches their MO. Another thought that occurs to me is that she might be doing this to get minions, similarly to what Will does when he takes own Chelsea and recruits Michelle. Will’s not particularly hard to push around, so that could be the angle here. |
