It was one of those nights. Down at the student hall disco. Southern Comforts and Newcastle Brown. Hammered within the first hour. I stared at her with the neon lights flashing. Beer glass in my hand and friends laughing and drinking around me. It was always Dutch courage but I swallowed the last of my pint and walked towards her gyrating on the dance floor with hair flowing, music blaring and my heart pounding. With shrug of my shoulders I nodded and started dancing in front of her. She smiled. Maybe she laughed. I really don't know and I really didn't care. I was dancing. I was dancing in front of the hottest girl in the student hall. One song finished and another started. I couldn't keep my eyes off her and she just gyrated and flung her head from side to side with that wild hair filling the room. "Do you want a drink?" I asked in between songs. "Yes," she said and followed me back to bar. I went for another pint and order her a vodka and lime. "Do you wanna go outside for some fresh air?" I shouted to her. She grinned, sipped her drink and put her arm in mine. I walked as straight as I could to the door and past the guy taking the entrance fee. My car was parked across the road and I led her there. She was still giggling and taking sips of her drink. I groaned. The keys were in my coat back in the hall. I smashed the rear window with the bottom of the beer glass and felt the sharp pain of glass cutting my hand. I opened the door and she climbed in still laughing. That's when I feinted. Just another one of those nights. |
