Yes, I heard about Sly Stallone! He's smart to bail out of there now. Leaving CA is a PITA. Their tax division follows you everywhere trying to nickel-dime you for stuff you don't owe. My car had already moved to MA, I was no longer living there, and they threatened to put a lien on my house that was being sold because I didn't pay the excise tax on a car that didn't live there anymore. I had to show proof of out of state residence before they cleared the lien. Yeah, just what I want, CA knowing where to find me to torture me, more.

They actually had me set for Jury duty ... 23 years after I left the state. Desperate for jurors, I guess!

Yes, traveling through small towns is lots of fun . Great little diners and shops and local color just adds to the enjoyment.
