Re: January books
Thanks for these fantastic reviews. I read the first two books you chose a couple of years ago, and it must have been both around the same time because I always link these two books together. Also, that's maybe because of the wonderful descriptions they both have. I completely related to what you said about nature in 'Crawdads.' I usually avoid books with too many descriptions of nature in them, but this book is full of them, and I loved it. And Kya ... My heart broke for her more than once. Into, wanted to punch Chase. But, like you say, that is because the book is so well written.

I don't remember so much about 'Light.' I've wondered about the title, and I admit I concluded, at first, it was simply a nod to Marie-Laure's dark world of blindness and how all of the bad things were taking place in the light outside of her. Making those things dark. But, I like what you said about how lightness and joy can still exist in a world where darkness dominates.

Derren Brown. What a clever man. It sounds like this book is interesting and useful. I like what you said about anxiety. That's kind of similar to how I try to live. I've suffered badly from anxiety in the past, but I've been taught that the only thing that worrying does is to sour the present. So, live in the present, don't worry about the future until it happens. (I know. Not so easy. I mean, how do you know you can deal with the future if you don't have a plan? Well, just remember, you have always dealt with the future in the past.) Whew. That was a tricky sentence! *Laugh*
