I think, it wasn't that I didn't like King's style. Mostly, I didn't think it was any better than your average modern-day writer's. Definitely nothing special. But the plot was pretty average as well. Nothing I hadn't read elsewhere in aslightly different version. I just failed to see the magic. But I do want to read some of his earlier work. Maybe that will grab me more. Then again, perhaps it was only so popular because of the time when it first came out. Back then, he was probably more original. I don't know. I did read 'On Writing' a few years ago, and I thought that was really good.
As for chapter lengths, I am sooooo with you, Jody. For me, if a chapter is more than fifteen pages long, I kind of resent it if I'm in the wrong mood . On the other hand, if I'm completely hooked, I don't really mind too much.
